NEWS AT THE MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL COMMISSION
LOCAL COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP UPDATE FORMS
The Massachusetts Historical Commission will soon send to each local
commission chairperson a form for updating local commission member
names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. MHC maintains a
database of local commission members and this update form helps keep our
database up to date. It is especially useful for letting us know when
new members have joined your commission. We can then send new members a
"welcome packet" as well as a copy of our guidebooks, the Preservation
Planning Manual for local historical commissions or the Guidebook for
Local Historic District Commissions.
STATE REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES
A copy of the new (2008) edition of the State Register of Historic
Places has recently been mailed to all local historical commissions and
local historic district commissions. The State Register is a compilation
of properties and sites with several different types of official local,
state or federal designations, including National Historic Landmarks,
National Register of Historic Places, Massachusetts Archaeological and
Historic Landmarks, Local Landmarks, Local Historic Districts and
Preservation Restrictions. The current published edition of the State
Register of Historic Places includes all listings up to December 31,
2008.
NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES
The following were recently added to the National Register of Historic
Places.
