[MassHistPres] Request For Proposals

The Newton Historical Society, Inc. (NHS), a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 institution,  
is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to provide architectural and 
engineering services for the next phase of the Durant-Kenrick Homestead. 

The Scope of Work for the next phase is to refine and develop through construction 
the current conceptual design that encompasses the restoration of the 1732 Durant-
Kenrick home and grounds, as well as new vehicular access, parking, and the 
Education and Orientation Center to be linked to the historic structure. 

Work is to include, but not limited to: confirming current program, budget and 
schedule parameters, developing restoration and new construction documentation for 
NHS design approval and cost estimates, obtaining approvals from the Newton Historic 
Commission and the City of Newton zoning, coordinating competitive bidding by 
qualified contractors, and observing construction.

A site/building walk-through and pre-proposal conference will be held on Monday, 
November 30, 2009 at 2:00pm at 286 Waverly Ave. in Newton, MA. Please call or email 
Laura Costello at 617-796-1458/ historicnewtonrfp at gmail.com to acknowledge 
attendance.

Questions regarding the Request for Proposals must be submitted in writing to Laura 
Costello at historicnewtonrfp at gmail.com no later than Tuesday, December 1, 2009 by 
5:00pm.

Completed proposals are due no later than Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 4:00pm. 
Proposals are to include qualifications and fees with the Fee Proposal submitted in a 
separate sealed envelope marked "Durant-Kenrick Homestead-Fee Proposal". The 
Newton Historical Society, Inc. reserves the right to reject any and all proposals.
