I have been asked to send this along the attached invitation to the preservation community. This may be the last opportunity to view the remarkable Ames Webster mansion that is presently still essentially intact -- including a three-story stair hall designed so that grand ladies entering from the porte cochere could go up a secondary staircase and then make a grand entrance down the grand staircase to the hall-ballroom which takes up much of the main floor -- an arrangement which helps explain the curiously modestly scaled street entrance -- albeit through a stair-vestibule with a barrel vaulted byzantine mosaic ceiling.
