This e-newsletter from the Massachusetts Historical Commission
Preservation Planning Division has been prepared for local historical
commissions, historic district commissions and others interested in
historic preservation activities around the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts.  It is published roughly every other week.  If you have

LEXINGTON IS NOW A CLG

The town of Lexington was approved as a Certified Local Government in
September.  In approving the application, both the Massachusetts
Historical Commission and the National Park Service recognized the work
of the Lexington Historical Commission and Lexington Historic District
Commission in their local historic preservation programs.  Lexington
will now be eligible to compete for matching grants through the annual
survey and planning grant program in the CLG category.  There are now 19
Certified Local Governments in Massachusetts.  These are Bedford,
Boston, Brookline, Danvers, Eastham, Falmouth, Grafton, Hingham,
Lexington, Lowell, Medfield, Methuen, New Bedford, Newton, Plymouth,
Quincy, Salem, Somerville and Worcester.
