Cambridge's 1850 almshouse still stands on Matignon Avenue near the Arlington line. Designed by Gridley Bryant and Rev. Louis Dwight, it is a clone of Boston's Charles Street jail. The city sold the adjacent poor farm for development in 1926; the almshouse and its outbuildings went to the archdiocese of Boston. The almshouse became an orphanage and then an elementary school; now it is owned by the International School of Boston. Matignon High School occupies the almshouse quarry. A few of the outbuildings are still intact.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Poor Farms and Historic Buildings
Westport has its Poor Farm historic buildings and land still intact and owned by the Town. It is now leased by the Trustees of Reservation.
Are there other Poor Farms in the state with historic buildings and/or land still intact?
Thank you.
