Re: date plaques--
May I suggest that whoever is sponsoring date plaques use the
occasion to double-check each house history before engraving its
"date" in brass. The expensive date plaques sold to Brewster
homeowners a few years ago by the local Historical Society nearly all
"immortalize" incorrect dates, based on inaccurate material compiled
20 or 30 years ago. This should actually be a welcome spur to a new
round of research.
