The city has a cemetery surrounded by a wall of coursed granite blocks, four blocks high, with capstones. The cemetery was established in 1718, but we do not know when the wall was erected. The wall is literally attached to the privately owned house next door. The owners of the house need to replace rotted clapboards behind the wall, which will require dismantling the wall to get to the clapboards. Can anyone recommend a contractor or mason who has worked with historic walls?
