Attached please find proposed legislation, Bill Number H.3968 that we have been working on with Rep.Sarah Peake. .
The Chatham Historical Commission, with your support, feel this legislation will assist all Historical Commissions in the State, in the efficient discharge our responsibilities in accordance with existing State and Local legislation.
The bill will be presented at a hearing (info below), at the State House, Wednesday April 18, room A2 at 11 am. Your attendance and testimony will help in it's passage. If you can not attend, you can submit written testimony to Rep. Sarah Peake's office to Sarah Ferrara, Sarah.ferrara at mahouse.gov.
Let her office know ASAP. They might be able to get you a parking space on the grounds if you want to attend.

An Act Authorizing Alternate Members on Local Historical Commissions.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Section 8D of Chapter 40 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2010 official edition is hereby amended by inserting in line 41 after the word �selectmen.� the following:
Alternate members may be appointed in like manner not exceeding in number the principal members. In case of the absence, inability to act or unwillingness to act on the part of a member of the commission, the place of that commission member shall be taken by an alternate member designated by the chairman.
Section 2. Section 8D of Chapter 40 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting in line 42 after the word �members� the following:
