[MassHistPres] Historical Commissions hiring professional architectural historians...

The Town of Norwell has a 1 year Demo Delay By-Law.  When there is a
question about the historical significance of a building and the Commission
members are not comfortable making the determination on their own, we hire a
professional architectural historian to write a report.  We find this report
very helpful in writing our final determination letter and in any
discussions with the homeowner.

 

Do other towns use professional architectural historians for this purpose?
If so, does the demolition applicant pay the professional fees or does the
Historical Commission pay for this?
