[MassHistPres] duties of local Historical Commissions

Hello all,

 

Local historical commission busy volunteer citizens sometimes seem to have
trouble separating their purposes from those of historical societies with
whom they may cooperate: this is recognized in MHC's Preservation Planning
Manual.  Does anyone have a tested approach for orienting new members?  What
do you do with long time members who have the same need?  

 

What kinds of activities enhance the Commission's reputation and attract
good new members who already know what they signed on to do?

 

Are there new Commissioners on the listserve who could comment?

 

Lastly, is the view of some administrators that they need full boards, O.K.?
