Hi Daniel,

Cambridge has a landmarked Shell spectacular sign. But it’s located at a still functioning Shell gas station so its context has not changed. Would your local historical commission want to give it house room?

Subject: [MassHistPres] Information needed on 'landmark' status

The town of Medfield is losing an iconic neighborhood store, and with it a really iconic sign. Lord's has been in existence for 73 years, and we all hate to see it go.

What to do about the sign has been a hot topic of discussion - will the new owners allow to remain where it is, must it be moved, and is there any protection for it under existing statutes and regulations.

I have been approached to see if we can get landmark status for the sign -- and I must admit I don't have a clue on where to go or what to do on this. So any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
