Consult with the Somerville Historical Commission about this – they do single-building districts all the time. Try Krisit Chase at kchase at somervillema.gov<mailto:kchase at somervillema.gov>.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Single house historic district protection for house under demo delay?
All,
There is a historic house (c. 1855) in Medford that the owners are seeking to demolish.
They have filed an application for a demolition permit.
The Medford Historical Commission meets next week and will probably issue a six-month demo delay.
Is there any reason the Historic District Commission cannot seek to place this house in a single-house historic district?
The process of course would have to be completed in six months.
Also, is there any precedent for this in other towns?
Christopher Bader

Medford Historic District Commission
