Dear MassHistPres listserv-

Registration is open for
"Preservation Works"--The 28th Annual Rhode Island Statewide Historic Preservation Conference
West Warwick, RI
Saturday, April 27, 8:30am - 6pm
$40 includes all activities plus morning coffee, lunch, closing reception

The day-long "Preservation Works" conference examines how preservation works and what we work to preserve--historic mills and mill villages, downtown commercial districts, public works, and works of art. The event gets underway at the Church of St. John the Baptist in historic Arctic Village with a keynote speech on the industrialization of 19th-century southern New England. The speech is followed by 12 workshops and 11 bus, bicycle, and walking tours of historic places around the Pawtuxet River Valley, including restored industrial buildings like Royal Mill and Anthony Mill, 18th-century houses like the Paine Homestead and Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead, and historic landscapes like Hopkins Hollow and scenes along the Washington Secondary Bike Trail. Presented by the R.I. Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission, the annual conference is a great opportunity to explore the historic Pawtuxet River Valley for design professionals, students, history buffs, public officials, and everyone else.
