You might contact the archives staff at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for leads on Stephen Earle. He designed one of their earliest buildings (Boynton Hall, 1868). You probably know that Earle attended MIT, which would be another archive to check.

Best,
Karen Davis

Subject: [MassHistPres] Architect Stephen C. Earle files

Preserve UMass is interested in learning where the files and plans of architect Stephen C. Earle (1839-1913) of Worcester may have been archived. He designed over 70 public buildings and residences in the Worcester area and in other parts of Massachusetts. We are specifically interested to learn if the original plans of the 1885 Old Chapel on the UMass Amherst campus have survived. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
