Hanover would be interested in participating in this discussion as well. One question we are struggling with is how to be proactive with the demo delay process. Our bylaw spells out specific steps that must be taken after a demo permit is applied for, which means we come into the process very late, after the owner already has decided to tear down the structure. We also get inquiries from potential buyers of historic homes needing work, looking for an opinion about whether "we're going to make them wait" for the delay period. We're looking for ideas to make the process more user-friendly and more useful as a preservation tool, not just a stop-gap measure that sends people scrambling to see what they can do.

Thanks for bringing up this topic!
