Hi Olivia,

A quick search in MHC's MACRIS database http://mhc-macris.net/Towns.aspx?Page=towns.asp will give you a comprehensive list of Massachusetts churches in LHDs. On the first page select "All Towns". Go to the next page. For Designation select LHD. For Use Type select Church. For good measure also select Chapel, Meeting House and Synagogue. Click Next for the results. I get a list of 488 properties with a present or former function as a church that are located in LHDs, sorted by town. You can save this list as a PDF or Excel file.

Just a reminder to all that MACRIS is a resource to answer these sorts of questions. And BTW check out MHCs interactive GIS system MACRIS Maps at http://maps.mhc-macris.net/

Best,

Michael

Subject: [MassHistPres] church in a local historic district

Dear Local Historic Districts
I'm looking for some numbers: do you have a church in your LHD?
If so, please send your town and name of your LHD to us.
We are working on a Polish Heritage Local Historic District that includes a closed Catholic Church, Mater Delorosa and can use some other LHD as examples for our City Council.
Thanks for your time,
Olivia Mausel, Co-Chair
