The Malden Senior Center was formerly a church. The article below says:
'...A public/private partnership leveraging funding resources brought
this project to life in downtown Malden. To be specific the sources
were as follows: $2M- HUD Section 108 Loan, $7.2M- City, $ 450K-
Cambridge Health Alliance Donation, $250K- Private Foundation Grant.
Rehabilitation cost $7.6M and $2.3M was used for acquisition of the
old church site.'

There are many other articles you can find online.
There was a very old bell at the church. Though millions were spent on
this project the decision makers refused to spend a small amount of
money to save the Bell. I cannot remember the amount now but it was
very small. No one who makes decisions in Malden cares about history
at all and it shows.
