REIMAGINING THE CEMETERY AS MUSEUM:
Lessons from IMLS Collections Stewardship Grants

Please join staff from Mount Auburn and Green-Wood Cemeteries for a special day focusing on new strategies for managing and interpreting outdoor collections in cemeteries and historic landscapes. Sessions will include planning, prioritizing, fundraising, and connecting with the public.

Mount Auburn and Green-Wood Cemeteries are the first cemeteries in the United States to receive Museums for America Collections Stewardship grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to document and research their significant monument collections. Staff from both institutions will share these projects designed to educate and inspire audiences and sustain interest in long term preservation. In addition to these presentations, the day will include a conservation case study and a walking tour of Mount Auburn's significant monuments in the landscape.
