Hi Marcia -
Silicone is not an appropriate material for brick repair, especially in
historic brick. You should remove it while minimizing damage to the
brick. Bricks should be patched with a repair mortar that is as close as
possible to the composition of the brick, especially in thermal expansion
and moisture/ vapor permeability. Cathedral Stone's Jahn M100 repair
mortar does a good job of this. If you have enough holes to fill/ bricks
to patch, they can test your brick and custom mix the mortar to be even
more compatible with your specific brick. They will also do a custom color
match.
