Not sure if this fits the parameters, but the Rochester Historical Commission does a local history presentation to the third grade at Rochester Memorial School. The kids rotate thru 6 presentations about Rochester history and are given a packet which includes a coloring book written and illustrated by Betty Beaulieu, one of our members. We have been doing it for over ten years, so some of the kids who have participated have since graduated. Not just the kids benefit, several teachers have cycled thru and increased their knowledge. Also many parents have indicated that they enjoyed learning about, in many cases, their new town.
Also, we have just installed a display at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds. The new building includes a space for towns to rotate thru with a display of local history and gives people who have to wait for business there something to do. We have received very favorable feedback from both locals and out of towers and plan to somehow install at least part of it at our Town Hall when the time there is done.
