The Hopkinton Historical Commission will be requesting proposals in October 2017 for the restoration of the dry laid stone bridge in Aiken Park. The bridge is 20-24' wide and has an arch of 20' diameter that spans over the Sudbury river adjacent to the Southborough T station This email is to solicit interest from qualified contractors who have experience with suspended dry laid stone construction. Construction drawings and details are available to any respondent to this email. The project is budgeted in the range of $50-90k and is primarily removing the overburden from the stone, providing a concealed concrete arch and replacing the fill per the specifications for a pedestrian / bike path only.
The bridge was built in the 1830's and is in good condition for the age of the structure.
