yes, indeed, HNE has documented the work they did at the lyman house to significantly increase the energy efficiency of the mansion...
that would be me on the ladder installing the icing on the cake!...we restored and weather stripped the 120 windows some years ago...we
still use the same product and application today...three different types of storms were used to study their efficiency and longevity...they used triple track
aluminum and wood exterior storms and interior vinyl storms....

Hello,

You might want to reach out to Sally Zimmerman at Historic New England. HNE did a weatherization project at the Lyman Estate and may have some information about contractors. They also have some good information on their website about the Lyman Estate project and others: https://www.historicnewengland.org/preservation/for-professionals-students/energy-efficiency/

Hello Everyone,

I am a new member, recommended by Lorie Komlyn, and a volunteer member of the House Committee at the Loring Greenough House in JP. As an introduction, I am a retired psychologist and fan of old houses, who lives in one in Central JP.

Question: At the Loring Greenough, we need to insulate several areas of the house. One is area the ceiling of the main house, which is accessible through a crawl space. The other area is in the kitchen wall. As an historic house, we are looking for a contractor who is familiar with historic houses and their preservation, while upgrading as needed. Please make recommendations.

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan Brush
