In Cambridge's Ch. 40C historic districts we regulate the materials and design of public sidewalks, including curbs and handicapped ramps, as well as streetlights and other street furniture. We generally defer to other authorities on striping crosswalks and the like.
All of our protected streets are local, however - we don't have to deal with MassDOT on state highways.

Hi, everyone --
Does your HDC regulate public sidewalks? 40C speaks in terms of "walks"
(in the definition of "structures") and I'm wondering how inclusive the term is.
Thanks!
