The Arlington HDCs do not regulate anything at grade, which includes sidewalks. However, we are working with Public Works to have a role in anything dealing with streetscapes in our districts, with particular concern for preserving brick sidewalks, eliminating asphalt walks, and looking for period appropriate signage.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Sidewalks

Hi, everyone --

Does your HDC regulate public sidewalks? 40C speaks in terms of "walks"
(in the definition of "structures") and I'm wondering how inclusive the term is.

Thanks!
