[MassHistPres] Fee Schedule

Salem does not charge any fees for Historical Commission applications. There was concern that charging a fee would encourage more residents to try to avoid applying, resulting in more violations to enforce. We do not use legal ads for Historical Commission meetings, but do send abutter notices.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Fee Schedule

Currently we do not charge for filings for a Certificate of Appropriateness or a demolition filing under our Demo Delay bylaw. Both certainly take staff time to review and usually require a legal notice being advertised and abutters notified. Do any of you assess a filing charge and/or a fee for the legal ad?

Thank you in advance for your responses.
