The town of Chatham charges a flat fee of $150.00 for an application to its Historical Commission whether it be for an application subject to the demolition delay bylaw or a determination of substantial alteration in one of our National Historic Register Districts. There are required public hearing notices but we don't charge the applicant extra for those as we have a line item in our budget for advertising. The Historic Business District Commission has a varying fee schedule depending on the nature of the filing....none of those fees exceed $50.00.

Worcester would be interested in this info as well. We also currently don't charge a filing fee for either application, but are considering it.
Thank you.

Currently we do not charge for filings for a Certificate of Appropriateness or a demolition filing under our Demo Delay bylaw. Both certainly take staff time to review and usually require a legal notice being advertised and abutters notified. Do any of you assess a filing charge and/or a fee for the legal ad?

Thank you in advance for your responses.
