Squirrels do eat lead flashing.

You might want to replace the flashing with "Freedom Gray Satin T-Z Alloy"
by Revere Copper. It is a tin-zinc alloy coating 99.5% pure copper.
Installed like copper (soldering). Contact Revere Copper if you are
installing against pressure treated wood.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Chimney Flashing question

The lead chimney flashing at our one room schoolhouse which has a wood
shingle roof has been compromised because of squirrels chewing on the lead
flashing! We did take down trees overhanging the roof so we hope this in no
longer an issue. However all the lead flashing needs to be replaced.

Has anyone ever heard of this before? Is there another product to use for
this flashing or something that can be applied to the flashing to repel the
squirrels ? Or cage the chimney?

Thank You,

Ann
