Hello everyone,
I am a member of the Dighton Historical Commission and my commission
arduously fought to save the Capt. Nathaniel Crane House (circa 1775) that
was eventually demolished last August 23, 2019 to give way to a new
state-of-the-art building belonging to the Bristol Agricultural County High
School (BCAHS). The school had bought the property on which the house
stood, but the school was not interested in keeping the house, so it
offered it to anyone for free as long as the taker could move the house to
another location. Alas, we could not find a taker after almost two years of
search.
I proposed to my committee that we submit a proposal to the School to
dedicate a space in the new building in memory of the Crane House as well
as of Capt.Crane himself who is a historical figure. However, I am not
exactly sure how to proceed from here. If any of you have made a similar
proposal, I would appreciate any advice and would like to know the end
result. If not, do you think this proposal is worth pursuing, or would it
be a waste of time?
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
--
