Discovery Museum has announced that a house on the Museum campus is
available for free to any interested party able to relocate it no later
than April 30, 2021 from its current site for reuse or salvage. The houses
street address is 183 Main Street, Acton, MA, 01720. *The property the
house sits on is not available*.
The structure is on Acton's Cultural Resource List and is currently under a
demolition delay order from Acton's Historical Commission expiring May 1st,
2021.
183 Main Street was originally built as a single-family residence around
1900. It has 2,758 gross square feet, not including a 920 gsf basement, and
is two and a half stories with a front porch and a side/rear enclosed
porch. It has 4 bedrooms and 1.5 baths, walk-up attic, and non-working
interior fireplace. The shingled roof was replaced in 2018. The house is
structurally sound and has been in continuous use.
Current use of the building is as administrative office space for Discovery
Museum staff.

The Discovery Museum does not have information on how to move the building
or what it will cost. All costs, logistics, and risks associated with the
building's removal will be the responsibility of the interested party. *The
house must be removed from the property by April 30, 2021*. The Discovery
Museum makes no warranty.
