Has anyone had any experience or know of anyone with experience in relocating a house by transporting it over water? New owners of an historic 1795 Cape in Duxbury near the bay intend to demolish rather than restore the structure. The Historical Commission has imposed a 12 month demolition delay that expires in September 2021, and is working with the owners on alternatives to demolition. Location of the house makes moving it overland impossible without taking it apart piece by piece and rebuilding. Transporting it across the bay to a new location seems the most viable option if a firm can be identified to move it. Owners are offering the house free of charge, but nothing more. The house is a classic Cape, currently occupied, with a documented history.Arthur B. Evans, Clerk, Duxbury Historical Commission
