Hello
Not sure how Newton’s Demo Delay ordinance is structured but here in Weston, we have twice imposed the allowed 2 year building moratorium on unpermitted demolitions. Nothing on the property and no permitting activity for 2 years. Good luck.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Demolition of A Local Landmark

Post below on behalf of an East Boston resident.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are facing a related situation in East Boston where a pending Landmark was unexpectedly demolished last week. Unfortunately, there are no legal protections for pending Landmarks in Boston. Outside of legal consequences, public shaming can be a powerful tool -- we are hoping community members will oppose future development proposals from this developer. Similarly, I'd suggest widely publicizing the illegal demolition in Newton.
In addition to proposals to force the developer to replace the demolished house, I would also suggest looking into the possibility of additional consequences, including barring the developer from receiving a permit for any construction project in Newton for a defined period of time, perhaps two years.
