Celebrate the Ladd-Gilman House’s 300th anniversary with a birthday party under the tent on the newly reconstructed lawn of our Folsom Tavern. Join us for an evening of cocktails, hors d’ouevres, silent auction and music.

Visitors will experience a recreation of raids conducted by British Regular Forces along with Native and Loyalist allies in the Mohawk Valley after the Saratoga Campaign. From 1778-1783, battles were fought all over upstate New York and the ‘frontier’ over control of land that had long been in dispute between the Native Americans and Colonial Settlers.

The 50th Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum Muster will be held on the grounds of the historic Longfellow’s Wayside Inn for a full day of music, muskets, history and fun.

Fairhaven Village Militia Revolutionary War Encampment

Come join the Fairhaven Village Militia and Wareham Minuteman and Militia Company as we demonstrate a militia encampment at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven, MA.
Talk to period costumed men and women about the fort’s history and life in the 1770s. There will be various activities and demonstrations throughout the day. See military drilling, flintlock musket firing and cannon firing demonstrations and camp cooking demonstrations. Also see activities such as tinsmithing, leather working, carpentry, sewing, fire starting, and more.
Be sure to be present at dusk on Saturday night when all 5 of the fort's cannons will be fired ! Approx. 6:45pm

The Reed Homestead will be a flurry of activity for a Saturday in the past. Tours will be provided on the hour. Reenactors will be demonstrating crafts, cooking and the military arts on the grounds. Be sure not to miss this exciting opportunity to connect with history. Free and all welcome.

Preservation Grant Funding Opportunity
Preservation Massachusetts is pleased to announce the 2022 round of the Massachusetts Historic Preservation Matching Grant Program. Funding for this matching grant program is provided by the 1772 Foundation, who has made $125,000 available for preservation projects in the Commonwealth, a 25% increase.
The 1772 Foundation, in cooperation with Preservation Massachusetts, is making available 1:1 matching grants of up to $10,000 for exterior preservation projects, such as painting, finishes and surface restoration, repair to/restoration of porches, roofs, and windows, foundation and sill repairs, chimney and masonry repointing.

Community Conversation:
America250 will host its next Community Conversation online on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 4 pm ET. Members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies are invited to share their hopes for the America250 celebration. The forum is designed to provide all communities the opportunity to speak into and shape America250 activities.

With the October 10, 2021, 11:59 pm ET deadline approaching for submissions for the America250 Awards, a few notes: Most nominators are family members, followed by friends. And those nominated are active in myriad ways in their communities. Have a hero to nominate? The 2021 America250 Awards will recognize three categories of heroes: 9/11 Heroes, First Responders, and Community Champions.

November Salute:
The November Salute is one of the ways America 250 is sharing America’s stories and honoring those who have served our country in uniform. This year, we are inviting the public to submit photos and stories celebrating U.S. military veterans, active duty service members, reservists, and guard members to be featured in a public mosaic.
