[MassHistPres] Certified Local Government MOU

Hi all,
Communities pursuing Certified Local Government (CLG) status with an Historical Commission and separate Historic District Commission(s) must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the commissions. This lays out how the CLG responsibilities are split up between the commissions: the Historical Commission is in charge of survey and planning work, reviewing properties for the National Register of Historic Places, and responding to historic resources review requests; the Historic District Commission(s) are responsible for enforcing the local historic preservation legislation, a requirement of the CLG program. In communities with a combined commission, all tasks are handled by the Historical (or Historic District, depending on local naming convention) Commission, so no MOU is needed.

Yes, in communities with multiple HDCs, they will also sign on to the MOU, as they are all responsible for enforcing the local preservation legislation.

IF you have more than one LHD (Hopkinton has two) do you need to have both LHDs sign the MOU?
