Please note that this grant is not offered or administered by the Massachusetts Historical Commission. If you have questions about the grant or would like to apply, please contact the National Trust for Historic Preservation's African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation, through its African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, is now accepting Letters of Intent for its new Preserving Black Churches grant program. Letters of Intent are due September 2, 2022. Learn more about the grant program here<https://savingplaces.org/black-churches>.

"Grants from Preserving Black Churches are intended to preserve historic Black houses of worship (with either active or non-active congregations) and advance ongoing preservation activities. With grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000, the funding will strengthen capacity for historic congregations, preservation organizations, and community groups to better steward, manage, and use their historic structures."

Properties do not need to be on the State or National Registers of Historic Places, nor locally designated. Grants are offered in several program areas (Capital Projects, Project Planning, Programming and Interpretation, Organizational Capacity Building and Operations, and Endowment and Financial Sustainability), some of which require a match.

Visit the grant program's website<https://savingplaces.org/black-churches> to learn more or submit a Letter of Intent.
