The Norwell Historical Society is looking for the location of a traditional slatted fence in a historic stone barway. Attached is a photo of what we are trying to find.

FYI, barways were used to move livestock from one field to another and traditionally had a slatted gate at each end. We are filming a video that will re-enact how barways were used in the past, and need a working slatted fence.

Does anyone know of a similar site—preferably on the South Shore or within a reasonable driving distance from the South Shore? Please let me know if you have any thoughts. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Wendy Bawabe
Norwell Historical Society
