[MassHistPres] Painted roadways

Currently in our small country town the powers that be are having the roadways painted with very large bike lanes. So far they have been outside of any historic district. Are these road paintings considered signage?  The next road slated for painting is within a Historic District .  It's not a state road. Thanks for any input anyone may have as to weather the HDC has any purview over this.Alisa StruthersTownsend MA
