This grant opportunity is offered by the National Fund for Sacred Places and is not affiliated with or offered by the Massachusetts Historical Commission. For questions about the grant or to apply, please reach out to the National Fund for Sacred Places.

The National Fund for Sacred Places<https://fundforsacredplaces.org/>, a collaboration between Partners for Sacred Places and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, has announced their newest round of funding. Letters of Intent are due February 24, 2023.

Grants are available to religious congregations or closely-affiliated non-profit organizations to preserve historic worship spaces with regional or national significance.

Proposed projects should have urgent needs including, but not limited to, structural stabilization, water infiltration, roof repairs, masonry repointing, boiler replacement, etc. Bringing a building up to codes and standards, improving usability or ADA accessibility, and renovating vacant or underutilized space may also be eligible projects.

Any grant under $100,000 requires a 1:1 cash match, while grants of $100,001 or more will require a 2:1 cash match. For example, in a 2:1 scenario, a $200,000 grant will require the congregation to raise an additional $400,000 in matching funds. The grant amount will not exceed 50% of the project cost.

For more information and to apply, please visit the National Fund for Sacred Places website<https://fundforsacredplaces.org/>.
