Courtney,
Based on Wards assessment (from 2013) the roof components need help but the
whole roof does not need to be replaced. As a slate roofer (sometimes
competitor) I know about Wards expertise and I’ve seen some of the work
he’s done and I trust his assessments.
Granted there have been a lot of increases in costs over the last ten years
but ~$600,000 to $16M is a multiplier of more than 25. I would start by
investigating that difference.
