This session will explore the role of ADUs in historic communities, covering planning considerations, their historical presence, and examples of communities successfully integrating ADUs while maintaining historic character.

The program will include:

  *   An overview of ADU planning and policy by MAPC experts.
  *   A historical perspective on ADUs from Jim O'Connell, author of The Hub's Metropolis.
  *   A presentation from Vijay Joyce, Chair of the Salem Historical Commission on their approach to ADUs and historic preservation.
  *   A moderated Q&A session.
