[MassHistPres] Height guidelines for historic plaques

It depends on the intended audience for the signs. If the signs are
intended primarily to be viewed by pedestrians from a public sidewalk or
as they approach the main entrance of the building, then they should be
at or slightly below eye level (remember that some passerby will be in
wheelchairs). If the signs are mostly intended for drivers to read,
then the height would vary depending on how close the building was to
the public way, and the proposed size of the signs.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Height guidelines for historic plaques

A Fitchburg organization is going to be installing plaques on some of
its historic buildings, and the town is looking for information on
appropriate height and placement guidelines. I have read that a height
of four to six feet is standard, but any more specific guidelines would
be helpful!

Thanks,
