I worked on a residence a few years ago that had all the original slates
removed and replaced with synthetic ones. They had some issues with
some of the slates
curling and buckling under the Summer heat. Quite a few were replaced
during the installation (Disclaimer: My firm didn't install the
synthetic slates)
