LHDs in Boston review signage on the glass or other treatments on the glass or against it. Examples of the latter would be display cases facing into the store that block windows and graphics behind them facing out -- as some drug stores do. Boston LHDs may also review lighting mounted on the interior of a storefront that affects the exterior.

Subject: [MassHistPres] LHD purview question
I have a project involving interior lettering on a glass window. This is for a commercial establishment in a local historic district. Because the glass is clear, the lettering or signage on the interior side of the glass is visible. Do any local historic districts consider this within their purview to review? It is visible, but also in the interior of the building.
Thanks,
Brian Lever
