The New England Landscape Design and History Association (NELDHA) will host
a workshop on "Media Management: To Digitize or Not to Digitize". Topics
to be covered will include saving, storing and organizing documents,
photos, slides, plans, drawings, portfolios, computer files, CDs, and DVDs. *
This workshop will be of interest to historical societies that have recently
posted inquiries about digitizing their archives on this listserv.
Cynthia Brennan, Assistant Director of the Cambridge Historical Society,
will lead us through current theories and techniques on how best to preserve
our work now in different media formats. Her expertise comes from studies
at Simmons College's Graduate School of Library and Information Science and
digitizing collections at both the American Antiquarian Society and the
Cambridge Historical Society.
The workshop takes place on Thursday, February 17, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the
Boston Architectural College, 320 Newbury St. (corner Hereford St.) 1st
floor in the Fishbowl. Free to NELDHA members, $5 donation suggested for
non-members.
Please RSVP to reserve a seat - email KFF245 at aol.com
