Sarah,

The utility bears that cost, unless it is a municipal electric company, in which case it’s on the house-mover. I don’t know that it makes any difference if it is a private way.

Subject: [MassHistPres] Cost of Moving Overhead Utilities

I am wondering if anyone has any recent experiences with who is responsible for the cost of moving overhead utilities when a house is moved. Additionally, does this change if the utilities are located on a private street versus a town accepted road or state highway?

Thanks very much-

Sarah
