I visited a future client at her lovely 1832 home in longmeadow....sadly, the house suffered a fire with much smoke and water damage...most of the original trim, windows, doors and plaster are intact...the homeowner was told that all the plaster and lath must be removed and the charred beams must be coated with an encapsulating paint to eliminate the smoke smell...has anyone had a successful experience in ridding a house of that horrid smell of fire without removing historic material?
much appreciation in advance...
