The New Bedford Planning Department, by and through the City of New Bedford Purchasing Department, is seeking proposals from qualified historic preservation consultants to complete a Gravestone, Monument and Tomb Conservation Plan for the Old Section of Rural Cemetery which will provide a conservation assessment and set forth a detailed treatment plan for restoring and preserving, in an appropriate manner, the at-risk markers, memorials, and tombs within the oldest section of the Rural Cemetery.



Sealed proposals will be received by the Purchasing Department, in the office of the Purchasing Agent, Room 208, City Hall, 133 William Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts, 02740, during business hours, until 11:00 AM on Friday, December 8, 2017.


The City of New Bedford has received a grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund through the Massachusetts Historical Commission for this property which is listed in the State Register of Historic Places.

Proposers must meet the following minimum qualifications: Professional conservators, preservation architects or landscape architects with experience in cemetery and gravestone conservation. Proposers should meet the Secretary of the Interior's Historic Preservation Professional Qualification Standards for Conservation, or the Secretary of the Interior's Historic Preservation Professional Qualification Standards for Historic Preservation.


The Request for Proposals, containing Scope of Work, Proposal Requirements, and Evaluation Criteria may be obtained by emailing purchasing at newbedford-ma.gov<mailto:purchasing at newbedford-ma.gov>. on or after Wednesday, November 15 , 2017  - Monday thru Friday-8:30AM - 4:00PM.
