[MassHistPres] Wood shingles versus Architectural Asphalt

I am curious as to whether any  local historic districts have changed or modified their stance on shingle roofing. There is a big price differential and with the architectural asphalt now available, and the longer lifespan of such a roof, I am wondering if this standard has been modified anywhere.
