Encuentro 2018 Brings National Discussion of Latino Heritage and Historic Preservation to Providence

Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission, Rhode Island Latino Arts, and Latinos in Heritage Conservation will present Encuentro 2018, a conference on Latino heritage and historic preservation on Thursday, April 26 – Saturday, April 28, 2018. This groundbreaking event brings together the third national convening of Latinos in Heritage Conservation and the 33rd Annual Rhode Island Statewide Historic Preservation Conference. 

The program for Thursday and Friday features speakers from around the country as well as opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow practitioners and advocates. Saturday’s starts with a keynote speech, followed by two dozen tours of local Latino neighborhoods, historic places associated with underrepresented communities, recent preservation projects, and public art. Learning units are available for planners and architects.
