In Medfield, we advertise in a local paper two weeks before the hearing. We mail (standard first-class) a copy of the printed legal notice to the abutters within a 300-foot radius as a reminder a few days before the hearing.
In your reply, please include my original message.

How do other cities and towns notify the public when demolition delays are scheduled to appear at public hearings? Especially if the house has historical significance to the city. Does the city/town notify the surrounding neighborhood? Do any commissions send out certified letters? Or require the applicant to send out certified letters notifying the abutters of the property about the upcoming hearing?

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
