Pamela,

Hopkinton notifies immediate abutters by mail but much more effectively is our publication notice on the Historical District Facebook page.
The only caveat is that town counsel advices the HHC not to comment on the post as it may be a violation of open meeting law if more than 2 HHC members comment.

How do other cities and towns notify the public when demolition delays are scheduled to appear at public hearings? Especially if the house has historical significance to the city. Does the city/town notify the surrounding neighborhood? Do any commissions send out certified letters? Or require the applicant to send out certified letters notifying the abutters of the property about the upcoming hearing?
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
